Meet the Teacher

REMINDERS:

PE kits: PE will be on Monday afternoon, children will need to attend school in their school uniform and then change at lunch time.

Everyday Essentials: Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school every day these can be refill in class if needed. Your child will also receive a new reading pouch, these must come to school everyday.

School Uniform: Please can you label all your children's belongings. We try to return lost items to children but this is becoming increasingly hard when items are not named.

HOME LEARNING

Maths: Opportunities to practise our maths skills can be found everywhere, shops, car number plates, the park - all over.  What maths can you make when you are with your child? The children also have access to TimesTable Rockstars which they can easily play at home. In Year 4 the children are tested on their times tables so it is important they are confident with these, the more practice they get the better equipped they will be.

English: Children will be sent home new spellings each Friday; they will need to practise these at home. They will then be assessed on the following Friday. Please mix up the order of spellings to check the children are spelling the words correctly.

Reading: We expect children to be reading at home at least 3 times a week. Once the children have done their daily reading, they should record what they have read in their reading record this can be done by the child or the parent. It is important this is being filled in as it shows how much the children are reading at home.

RECOMMENDED BOOKS FOR YEAR 3 - Year 3 recommended reads

Reading is a great way to improve learning progress in all curriculum areas.  We understand it is often difficult for parents and carers to decide which books to buy for their children.  The link above will take you to the Books for Topics Recommended Reads page.
