Year 2, Swordfish and Seahorse classes.
Welcome back after Easter. This term we will be working on time in maths then revising many of our calculation strategies and in English we will be working on instruction and explanation texts. Our geography topic focuses on Kenya and we will move to look at plants in Science. It is a very busy term with many additional activities planned.

Year 2 Information
The topics we will be learning about this year are: All about me, Famous People (nurses through time and Great Fire of London), Travel and Transport, Wonderful World, Kenya and Kings and Queens. We have lots of exciting activities planned to bring our learning to life. Our Curriculum Newsletter will provide more information on the summer term specifically and this will be uploaded soon.
PE will be on Thursday mornings with Premier Sports and Dance on Wednesday mornings. Children should come to school in suitable clothes for PE on these days, for example jogging bottoms or leggings with their school jumper and polo shirt with trainers.
There will be termly topic homework, which is shared with their year group. Reading is essential for developing language and vocabulary and children are expected to read regularly at home, which is very important for their progress. We are looking forward to an exciting year.
Home Learning
Should you need to be at home for isolation purposes for more than a day, please contact the school office. They will alert the teachers in Year 2 and we will make a bespoke timetable of activities for individual children. In the 'Year 2 Download' section there will continue to be some useful, classroom resources to help with your home learning. Obviously if you are ill at home, we would not expect you to complete any work, but concentrate on getting better again.
